Executive Roles and Responsibilities

President

Mandate

To provide leadership to MNIA and set direction for the Executive.
To be the representative of MNIA at all public and professional activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attends/participates in all Executive Committee meetings
  • Oversees the work of the MNIA
  • Provides leadership for MNIA growth and development.
  • Ensures activities of MNIA are in accordance with by-laws.
  • Delegates MNIA representation to other members as required in accordance with by-laws.
  • Liase with CRNM
  • Facilitates the development and re-evaluation of MNIA goals and objectives (regular evaluation and strategic planning activities).
  • Presides at Annual General Meeting and regular meetings of MNIA
  • Appoints persons from MNIA as may be necessary to conduct MNIA duties and responsibilities
  • Voting member of the Executive.
  • Ex-officio of all committees
  • Signing officer for legal and financial matters
  • Provincial Representative to CNIA

Term of Office

Two years

Must have recently (within last 2 years) held a position on the Executive Committee and have current membership in CNIA and COACH.

Vice-President

Mandate

To assist the President in administering the business of the organization as directed by the by-laws. Promotes the purposes of the organization and oversees the management of MNIA finances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attends/participates in all Executive Committee meetings
  • Assumes responsibilities as delegated by the President
  • Assumes the duties of the President at the request of the President, or in the case of the President’s absence or inability to act.
  • Develops an annual MNIA budget in conjunction with the President for submission to the Executive and MNIA members for approval.
  • Identifies funding opportunities to support the activities of MNIA
  • Submits financial reports of the MNIA at the Annual General Meeting and as requested by the President or Executive. 
  • Assumes the office of President should that office become vacant between elections.
  • Coordinates activities for setting MNIA goals (regular evaluation and strategic planning activities) in conjunction with the President.
  • Coordinates and maintains MNIA by-laws, policies and procedures.
  • Voting member of the Executive
  • A signing officer for legal and financial matters.

Mandate

To assist the President in administering the business of the organization as provided in the by-laws. Promotes the purposes of the organization.

  • Provides orientation and continuity for new President.
  • Provides leadership for the Nominating and Membership Committee.
  • Voting member of the Executive Committee.
  • A signing officer for legal and financial matters.

Chairperson Education Committee

Mandate

Provides direction to the executive committee and leadership to education committee.  

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Attends/participates in all Executive Committee meetings
  • Is the liaison with the Director of Education CNIA
  • Works with committee to priorize MNIA education initiative(s) for coming year.
  • Sends request for, manages peer review process of, and co-ordinates submission of educational papers or editorials to professional publications and educational section of MNIA Web site
  • Co-ordinates educational program for MNIA meetings/conferences /workshops
  • Identifies informatics courses, certificates, and degree programs and facilitates development of hyperlinks from MNIA Web site
  • Takes lead role in development, implementation and maintenance of provincial standards and education for nursing informatics in Manitoba
  • Is a voting member of the Executive Committee

Chairperson Membership and Nominating Committee

Mandate

Provides leadership to the Membership and Nominating Committee. Works in collaboration with the Executive to set direction and facilitate the recruitment, membership, executive and growth of the MNIA.

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Attends/participates in all Executive Committee meetings
  • Guides and directs the MNIA membership committee to lead MNIA membership recruitment initiatives.
  • Coordinates membership drive efforts.
  • Maintains MNIA membership statistics and submits MNIA renewal fees
  • Reports pertinent statistics to the membership on an annual basis
  • Develops and implements strategies for recruitment and retention of members.
  • Provides direction in maintaining a member database.
  • Collaborates with Executive to identify, communicate and facilitate a call for nominations and election of the Board of Directors
  • Voting member of the Executive Committee

Communications Officer

Mandate:
To maintain internal and external communications on behalf of MNIA

Key Responsibilities

  • Attends/participates in all Executive Committee meetings
  • To serve as corresponding and recording secretary
  • Maintains the Minutes of Executive meetings and Annual General Meeting and posts or distributes in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of the MNIA website and its linkages with CNIA
  • Records and posts all General meeting minutes on the web site; maintains hard and soft copy files.
  • Provides notification of meetings, other activities to the membership
  • Provides communication to outside agencies as required
  • Voting member of the Executive Committee.

Term of Office

Renewable two year term.
