Welcome to the MNIA Web site!
The Manitoba Nursing Informatics Association (MNIA) is the nurses’ voice for health informatics in Manitoba.
MNIA Mission Statement
The Manitoba Nursing Informatics Association has a visible presence and is a recognized organization within the nursing profession in Manitoba.
The MNIA provides leadership in informatics, educational opportunities and a networking forum for its members.
The goals of the MNIA are:
- To provide an avenue for networking to nurses within Manitoba interested in nursing informatics
- To facilitate educational opportunities for all nurses in Manitoba
- To provide leadership in Manitoba within matters of nursing and health informatics
- To facilitate information management and nursing informatics research within Manitoba and Canada.
The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) has acknowledged the MNIA as a special interest group of the CRNM. The importance of nursing informatics reaches throughout and beyond Manitoba.
Nationally the Canadian Nurses Association has granted emerging group status to the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association (CNIA) and the MNIA is an affiliate member of the CNIA. Together we are working to create a strong provincial and national voice for nurses in health informatics.
The CNIA and MNIA are also affiliated with COACH, Canada’s National Health Informatics Association and through this strategic alliance CNIA provides the Canadian nursing link to the IMIA-NIG, the International Medical Informatics Association and its Nursing Informatics Group.
The Canadian Nurses Association and Canada Health Infoway have recently released a Think Tank Report on Nursing and the Electronic Health Record held on May 10 and 11, 2009 in Toronto. Click the title to open a copy of the report.
